Photo Description	Kadou Festival celebrate primarily in the western corner of the Northern Region of Ghana as well as the bordering area in Cote d'Ivoure by Muslims to mark the coming end of Ramadan which occurs three days later. Originally done as a courting ceremony where marriage eligible young ladies would dress in their best and dance, waving horse tail fans for review by the men. If a man chose a girl, then the arrangements could be made within the three days before the end of the fasting. Now the fans are most made from plastic strips from grain sacks. Most girls who dance now are also between 3-10 years. Older girls mostly choose not to take part in the ceremony. However you will find some JHS level girls honoring the tradition.
