Congressional Delegation to the Dominican Republic
Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) hands out baseball caps to children at the work site of a Peace Corps youth development Volunteer in a rural community in the Dominican Republic. The visit was part of a congressional delegation to the Dominican Republic in March 2011 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps. The delegation was led by Sen. Patrick Leahy, the chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Department of State and Foreign Operations. The delegation included Peace Corps Director Aaron S. Williams, Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND), Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC), Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-CA) and Rep. Peter Welch (D-VT).
