The goal of the program is to encourage the development of small businesses by Africans in a country where the control of most businesses is in the hands of the Europeans. Here the Volunteer talks with an Abidjan plumber who he helped in organizing his business. The plumber came to the Peace Corps group with clients and a French training in plumbing, but with no capital or bookkeeping background. The Volunteer helped him get a loan and set up his book system.
