This Volunteer is a medical technician assigned to the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. She is helping conduct microbiology and leptospirosis studies. Leptospirosis is a micro-organism that causes a disease commonly known as black jaundice; rodents are carriers and it attacks the kidneys of animals and humans. The well equipped lab is a combined project of the Barbados Ministry of Agriculture, Science and Technology, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Canadian Industrial Development Agency. 1976
