This Volunteer is assigned to Belize as a marine biologist studying the sexual maturity and reproductive habits of the queen conch shellfish in Belize, Central America. The conch, a member of the mollusk family, is a valuable export item for Belize. Its yellowish spiraling shell is used in manufacturing cameos and the meat inside is a popular dish fried or stewed. Here he is shown going out on a fishing boat to examine the methods the fishermen use to catch conchs. 1974
