This Peace Corps Volunteer constructs methane gas generators around the cities of Loja and Saraguro. During the past two years, he has constructed three such generators, each being a huge success. Here, he works with Ecuadorians to install storage tanks which hold cow manure which produces the gas. To construct the generator, Humbles used several small appliances from local junk. One is a gas light with two bulbs made from a wood pipe and the other is a two burner stove made from discarded coffee cans. After realizing the potential of the project, local companies began manufacturing items for sale for those families who desired to construct generators.
