These Volunteers work as a team to improve the living conditions of the cliffside village of Everi. Everi, a village high above the Dogon Plateau, currently collects the water it needs by descending 800 feet and carrying jugs back up the cliffside. In this photo, they use the tube level method to find contour lines on the terrain and to establish contour berms in the millet fields. This will prevent erosion and prevent water run-off of the scarce water needed for crops.
