He was in private practice in El Cerrito, Cal. for 22 years before becoming a Peace Corps doctor. In his work, the doctor must travel extensively, visiting Volunteers to regularly check on their health, to give shots, and to provide the psychological backstopping that a trained, skilled and sensitive doctor is best equipped to do. He spends about half his time on the road.
