At the request of the Ivory Coast government, a program of TEFL--teaching English as a Foreign Language-- was set up. The official language of the Ivory Coast is French, and most people grow up with a tribal language (so many dialects exist that there are no accurate figures on it), but English is the coming common language in Africa.
