This is a photo portrait taken of a L 'Moran warrior north of Archer's Post (north of Isiolo, Kenya) when I visited a friends mother's traditional Samburu manyatta campsite over the Easter Holiday. 1986
Featured in this photo are Tom Dunn, Doug TenEyck, Bill Moseley and Rick Heffernan. We were Volunteers in Mali from 1987-89. We gathered in Douenza, Mali in late December, 1987 to celebrate Christmas together.
This 1986 photo shows my young neighbor Charles, stopping by my house on his way to "somewhere." Charles was one of the boys who built a weight room behind my old house. where he and his buddies now pump iron on their way to bulk and glory.
Fish farmer Papa Ngwanza adds compost to his pond with his two boys. The program was called Projet Pisiculture Familiale, or Family Fish Project, and had just celebrated its 10th anniversary when this picture was taken in 1988.
Taken in 1988 as we waited on the pond bank for the first harvest of fish for this group of farmers. They showed me how to make hats out of big forest leaves for protection from the hot equatorial sun.
