Photo Contest Rules
Current and returned Peace Corps Volunteers, and current and former Peace Corps staff are eligible to participate, with the exception of current staff in the Office of Communications, the Office of Strategic Partnerships, the small grants working group and judges.
Winning photos will be unveiled at the SPA 30th anniversary event in Washington, D.C. and featured on the Peace Corps website, social media channels and in Peace Corps press materials.
First-place winners will also receive a framed certificate signed by the Peace Corps Director.
How to Enter
Submit your Peace Corps photos online using the Peace Corps Digital Library submission form. Please make sure to read the photo submission guidelines and technical requirements found on the submission page. All photos that are submitted will become a permanent part of the Peace Corps Digital Library collection, regardless of whether or not they are selected as contest winning photos.
Contest Time Period
Submissions will be accepted from Friday June 14, 2013 through Sunday July 28, 2013 11:59 pm EST. Submissions received after this time will still be added to the official Peace Corps collection in the Digital Library but will not be considered for the photo contest. Existing photos submitted to the digital library before June 14, 2013 will not be considered.
Entries must be submitted by the original photographer. You must be the sole owner of the copyright of any image submitted. Your submission of the photo and entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the photo.
A panel of judges will be selected from Peace Corps headquarters. The panel will include representatives from the Office of Communications, the Office of Strategic Partnerships, and the small grants working group. Nine winning photos will be selected by a photo contest judging panel for first, second, and third place in three categories. There will also be a People’s Choice winner selected by public vote on Peace Corps’ Facebook page. Photos will be judged on their relevance to the SPA program and the theme “Local Capacity Building." Entires" will be evaluated based on creativity, photographic quality, and strength in portraying:
- SPA in Action (1st, 2nd, 3rd place)
- SPA Results (1st, 2nd, 3rd place)
- Photographic Technical Merit (1st, 2nd, 3rd place)
Entries for the SPA 30th Anniversary Photo Contest must be received via the Peace Corps Digital Library by 11:59 p.m. EDT Wednesday, July 28, 2013.
